New York - Avoid: WooGo.com

WooGo.com's Midtown Apartment on 301 53rd St NY is vile. We wanted to check out in the first 15 minutes, even tho 11pm at night. Found an alternative hotel that night but they would not refund until next morning when we got a partial refund and moved out pronto. Asbestos removal ongoing, apartments v expensive for quality of accommodation, tacky. Location is good but there are lots of much better hotels for same price there (or cheaper!) such as Best WEstern President on 48th St and Hilton Winter Garden Hotel.

probably better off commenting somewhere like , though as usual the comments here seem very mixed.

Woogo.com is to be avoided at all costs. A quick search on tripadvisor will unearth hundreds of complaints!

Sorry you didn't know this before you travelled.

Will certainly update Tripadvisor.com also in clear terms, thanks.

Do not go near woogo...
they are a complete joke. we had booked with them originally and then we came across a message on tripadvisor, from a person that had used woogo to book into the pickwick arms hotel. when he arrived in the hotel they told him that they did not take any more bookings from woogo and advised him to contact them himself, there is majot trouble with woogo.

we travelled to NY on the 11 november '06 for 8 days. i queried with woogo beore we went about our booking, and if it was ok, i rang them first and they hung up when i said i was booked into the pickwick hotel ! i then e-mailed them and eventually they got back saying they were going to contact me the day after.. coincidence !! and had transferred me to another hotel, when i checked it out on trip advisor, there were only comments advising health trap, and lots of cockroaches and lots of bad pics....... i then requested the cancellation of the booking which they did but then the refund gets very scary... first they said all was ok and we would get the refund in 3-5 working days, that was 7 november, still no sign, rang again and was told that the a/c that was used to take the money from my a/c in closed and they cannot make a refund, and that i should get my cc company to do a deduction from the company !!!!!!!

there is a dedicated website trying to close them now, if only i had seen it before........... got the refund in january, only after bank of ireland/visa went after them, and the fact i had an e-mail from one of the muppets from customer services telling me to tell the bank the money was taken illegit....

Trip Advisor is worth a look and would probably have exposed this place.

I find it funny enough on other places though.

yep, been through it with woogo as well and had to threaten a solicitors letter before the refund came through 6 weeks later. Advised Woogo that the reason I was cancelling was because I had read online reviews that slated the hotel. When I later checked Trip Advisor there were 2 new comments added to the hotel reviews on Trip Advisor for the hotel saying how great it was...go figure

I am having similar problems with Woogo. After a frightening experience of staying in terrible and dangerous conditions I was promised a refund. This was back in Oct. 07. Still no refund.

I have reported Woogo to the European Consumer Centre which represents 27 countries. They will advise people about the dangers of using Woogo.

Is there anybody out there that can advise on the best web sites to warn people about this terrible company ? I am prepared to go legal on this on a matter of principle. I have many photographs showing exposed electrical wiring , sockets with no covers. Rubbish left out in corridors.

What course of action diid you use with Bank of Ireland ? (jimout2@gmail.com)

i had an e-mail from woogo saying that i should get in touch with my credit card comp, and organise a refund, and get visa to take the money back as it was an il-legitimate money transfer... Bank of ireland were helpful, give them a call. The only difference was, i had not gone and had canceled the booking the week before. let us know how you get on..
