Alternative to decking

Hi,

I'm looking forward to a fantastic summer this year - so I am thinking about what I could do in the garden to fix it up a bit.

Like the idea of a modern low maintainence garden, if you get me.

So, other than putting a nice big deck down the end of the garden with a smaller one at the back door and decked path between them anyone any ideas what I can do with it ?

I am considering stones for the rest as I dont have time to keep it looking trim.

Fairly open to anything at the moment.

Thanks
Rob

Putting so much decking in a garden would not be a low maintenance solution and especially if the orientation is northwards, it is probably risky during extended wet spells.

Stone paving would be a better alternative and combined with decorative pebble can provide a far more interesting but economic solution.

However ground preparation is important as well as a practical but attractive layout.

I certainly hope that this year's summer will be much better than 2007.
