best diesel

what do people think is the best used diesel car around for about 20K. I'll be after a family car, something like a mondeo or avensis. any other ideas out there?

Avensis is hard to beat. Are you after a large/mid/small sized car?
 
Mazda 6 diesel 136 bhp model. Nice drive, 50mpg, good boot space. It comes very well spec'd in the exec version - 6 CD changer sunroof cruise control etc.

Brother in law has one of those, nice car but a lot of cheap looking plastic in the dash!

I know - I bought a 4 year old one with full service history, 64K miles for 14K. New price around 34 grand.

Funnily enough they seem to hold their value better in the UK.
