Where has best rate to get $

Hi, im thinking about getting $ now as rate seems to be dropping and we are not going away untill april. Iv seen that the $ is about 1.47 but cant find out were to get it at this rate. I rang T**** C*** and they are only giving 1.39. I would be greatfull if anyone could point me in the right direction. Thanks

Try X**** B*** or G********* F**** - they offer great rates.

Ok i get it. Silly me you would know dumbo here doesnt post often!!!! I thought i couldnt name companys, banks ect. But after looking at other posts i see i can. So clubman help me out here can you give me the names and also were to find the ones you named! or should i say didnt name, lol ,thanks.

The only simple answer is shop around. Most banks have branches within a few hundred metres of each other in any town/city. See who is offering the best rate (these change to often to say which is the best) and change your money.

Thomas Cook are good for more exotic/rare currencies, but I wouldn't use them for the likes of USD/GBP etc.

The rates you see in the money market ( 1 eur= $1.4791/3 as I type) and the rate you will get from a retail bank are two different things. Take CCOVICH's advice imo.

As demoivre says, the rates you see are not the rates you get.

If you know someone working in a bank they may have an allowance at which they can buy/sell with reduced/no margin and they may do you a favour.

Do some places also offer this for Senior Citizens/OAPs?

Thanks all i thought i should be getting 1.47. I rang around a few and the best seems to be 1.44 so think i will go for that. Thanks for all the advice.

Where did you get 1.44?
 
We find our Credit Union the best. A weeks notice is required ...... so you buy tomorrow for next week. A chance you take ....... but generally, unless you're changing big money, a few cents here or there will buy you a meal and perhaps a beer.
 
Hi all when i ordered the $ it was 1.44. I collected it on monday and i actually got 1.46. I got it in AIB.
