I bought a cross-cut shredder in Tesco for about €20 because I was tired of ripping things up into tiny pieces, it took hours and hours :D

Does anyone else here bother shredding utility and credit card bills etc?

hi,

I got a cheap one out of argos ages ago for shredding important stuff. Can never be to careful these days, most of the other junk i through straight into the recycling bin. anything with names, addresses, etc goes into shredder.

We have an open fire so about once a month, we burn any paperwork that can identify us in any way.

As for plastic, we take the scissors to cards etc when the situation arises - cut them into about 20 pieces I suppose.

Shred any identifiable stuff. However you have to realise that a lot of your details are out in the public domain anyway, and with private companies so its doesn't take much for someone to get a job somewhere and have access to lots info.

I can't burn at home cos I'm in an apartment so I bring stuff into work and shread it there.

With cards I've cut them into 20 or 30 pieces and put 10 or so pieces in one week and the rest the following week. I also put 5 bits into one bin and 5 into the next - you feel a bit mad but it has to be done.

Soak them in water and mash them into a pulp/papier mache? Maybe even make something decorative out of them? :)

Clubman - I dishwash for one person - any chance I could throw them in the dishwasher??

Burn them , then load the ashes into a rocket and fire it into the heart of the sun (well burn them part is true anyway)......
