My wife's family do Kris Kringle and I'm included.
For the second year running I have gotten my Mother in Law.
(I will call "shamrock & shenanigans" if it happens next year).
I got lucky last year as my mother was shopping with her and sorted the present.
However, this year I have tried the same avenues as last year and have so far drawn a blank.

So, I need advice and quickly...
She is in her early 60s, smokes, drinks and is mad into Munster rugby (goes to a lot of the matches, home and away).
The mark is up to €200 for the present.

Spa treatments are not really her thing.

Help/suggestions appreciated.

Would an expensive hip-flask be inappropriate? She does like booze and going to rugby matches. If it was for your father-in-law I'd say fire ahead but maybe for a woman it's a bit dodgy?

nice leather bound hip flask (the ones with four silver little shot cups on top) and a nice matching zippo lighter with her name on it??.

Why shouldn't you get a hip flask for a woman?

I suggested it because personally I think it's a nice idea given her interests...it's just some people may take a different view, e.g. you're implying she's a lush.

I guess so, how about a watch or gift from munster rugby website - possibly the watch??

I'm a woman and I have a lovely silver hip flask. I think that's a great idea. I've seen some leather hip flask sets in M & S that might do the trick. I don't think it would be a strange present at all - perfume, flowers and "girlie things" are not every womans idea of a good present.

If you have money left over from the hipflask you could get her one of those lovely blankets in Avoca - she could bring it to the Munster matches on a cold day. How nice would that be, wrapped in a cosy blanket and sipping from a hip flask :)

Get her a jersey or tickets for a game

A nintendo ds lite and brain training game..... I am in my 50s and just discovered them.... I am adicted....Lots of games suitable for the older people..... Hotel Dusk is another of my favourites. I have put lots of games on my Christmas list...

Thanks for all suggestions.
I have covered her with the usual rugby tickets and jackets for past birthdays etc.
Must look at the Munster website a bit longer.
I will look into the hip flask idea, but she shares her brandy with no one so no need for the cups!

The nintendo ds lite is a good idea, can't think why I did come up with that seeing as I was thinking about it for my own mother.
(Maybe I need it myself).
Will they be all sold out by now?
Where is the best to go? (clueless on this).

I got my Nintendo DS in Golden Discs €159... They can be got a little cheaper maybe €149 ish. games are around €30 - €50. Game have them, I think some Tescos also but I dont think you will have trouble finding one. She will thank you for years to come. It will also come in handy next year if her name comes out of the hat again... more games...

The odds of your mother in law's name coming out of the hat are far better than you finding a Nintendo DS in Dublin this side of Christmas!

On the Munster Theme - how about signing her up for the Munster Walk - [broken link removed]
