Antique brass light switches

Does anyone know where to get 'antique' brass light switches and socket faces? Woodies don't have nice ones, and B&Q just had shiney brass. Is there anywhere besides DIY shops?

Isn't it the case that you should only use metal switch plates if the lighting electrical circuits are earthed and most are not? Seem to recall this cropping up recently on AAM. People wondering why they got shocks when switching the lights on/off!

Good point, must enquire from DH who knows a lot more about this than I do... (though I have a feeling that some 'antique brass' fittings are more coloured plastic!!)

I'm not in sparks trade but it easy enough to earth these yourself if you purchase suitable earth cable. There should be a screwed terminal in the back of the metal light switch box.

Possibly dumb question - but what do you do if there is no earthing (e.g. wire or other option) available? Do you have to do a bit of a mini rewire?

yes, but earth is (often?) not run to light points (switch or bulbs) , only to sockets.
