Am going to New York in Jan with wife and 15 year old daughter.
Can anyone recommend a hotel that has a bar for $100 - $150 a night in the centre.
This is our first time there and I a not sure if kids are allowed in bars.

Kids not really allowed in bars however you can always have your few drinks in the restaurants.

You will get very few central hotels in NYC for $100-$150 per night for 3 people, apart from sleazy and/or dirty kips.

If you shop around you might. We got lovely hotel ( the belvedere)this year in feb for €123 per night for 3 people.

For a hotel at that rate check out the specials on If there's nothing there for your dates the Hotwire and Priceline are the best ways to get a decent hotel in your budget. We got the 4* Grand Hyatt at Grand Central Station for $120 a night in January this year.

If you're unfamiliar with Priceline and Hotwire, head over to www.betterbidding.com for info and tips on how to use the sites as well as details of recent "wins"

They're very strict in NY with regard to kids in bars.
My daughter was over 18, but not yet 21 which is their legal age & while waiting in a restaurant for a table they would not allow her to sit at the bar while I had a drink. They said it was ok for her to stand beside me !
They were nice about it but said it's the law.
You'll be allowed order drinks when seated at your table in restaurants.
