Hey there,
Sounds like a simple question but recently changed oil and filter in the car, first time, but neglected to ask what oil was being used. Any help would be appreciated.

Guy who helped oil not available for next few weeks due to hols. Do you think I should ring him on hols to ask him? Bizarre you took the time out to post a smart ass answer.

QUOTE]but neglected to ask what oil was being used.[/quote]

How do you expect anybody here to know what oil was used ??

But if what you meant was "What oil should have been used.....?
Then the answer is, Ford recommend the use of a semi-synthetic, 5/30w grade oil.

Hope this is the info you were looking for.

Go back and ask them? Bizzare q.

RS2K gave you the only possible answer !

What kind of help were you expecting ?

Crikey, don't be so cranky. It is not a bizare question, nor is RSK's the only possible answer. If you can't be helpful (or funny), then keep your comments to yourself!

As indicated above, it's semi-synthetic 5/30w. The cheapest place to get this is a ford garage.

To Bluespud and sparkrite

Thanks for the answer, all the info I needed. Suppose I should have worded the question better, just felt the sarcastic answer wasn't needed.

To Macnas

FTB stands for either from the block or first time buyer depending on the forum lol

Do I dare ask what you thought it stood for or is it not the kind of thing for a family website?

You must use FORD Oil. Anything else won't stay in the engine. I know there are loads of oils and they are all very good but use any of them in a modern FORD and it will end in tears...........

Nonsense. Any oil that meets the grade recommened by Ford will do.

Why, are Ford engines not made from machines steel, aluminium etc?
Hpw will it know if the oil is not Ford oil?

FORD MotorCraft developed this oil for their engines. If I could get away with servicing customers cars with a cheaper alternative I would use/buy it and save a fortune.
While it's fine stating the obvious,,,, we have noticed when we used equivelent engine oils at time of next oil change oil levels were v-low and when we used FORD Oil no problem.
If you can offer a qualified working opinion on this post I would be delighted to have it.
Also what is the Brand Name of the alternative OIL that is recommended by FORD?
