Can you use Laser Card in Australia?

I have a bank account in Ulster bank, and want to know the best way I can withdraw money from it when I move to Australia. I am renting out my house here, so the person renting will be lodging the money into my ulster bank account as my mortgage comes out of that account. So the remainder money leftover in my account each month after the mortgage is paid is what I want to withdraw when I am in Oz. I went into the bank today, and they told me that it would be too awkward to fill out forms and fax them back each month, so they recommended I get a Laser card so I can then just withdraw from a banklink machine.
What do you think?

A. No. Laser can only be used in the Republic of Ireland. However, some banks and building societies that issue Laser Cards include other payment facilities on their Laser Card which allow the customer to use the card in ATMs and retail outlets abroad. Contact your bank or building society for more details.
But if the card also contains Cirrus/Maestro/Plus+ then you can use those facilities to get cash (for a fee).

To Clarify - a fee is applicable only outside the eurozone, inside the eurozone one pays the same rate for a withdrawal as one does at home (unlees you have free banking at home and then the withdrawals are free)

Not sure if Ulster bank have the facility of transferring funds abroad online. The cheapest way would be to let funds accumulate for a few months & then transfer in bulk.
Other option would be to transfer these funds online to your Cr Card & withdraw from it. No cash advance fee if your card is in credit.

Cirrus option will cost you every time you withdraw probably at 3.5%. Min charge €2.54 max €17.50.....that's what the BOI charge would be anyway.

I would be amazed if any Cr Card company charge you a Cash Advance fee for taking your own money out of your a/c. An advance by definition would be deemed to be credit. Perhaps other financial institutions apply charges, but they can't really be called Cash Advance Fees.
Apologies if I'm incorrect on this. Best to check with Ulster Bank to be sure & get a second opinion from them, preferably a brochure that lays it all out clearly.
I've seen people pay a lot of charges on Cirrus withdrawals, so I'm pretty sure that's not the best way to go, unless UB are very different from BOI.

I would be surprised too but ... my reading the Halifax VISA card T&Cs was that they did just this (applied a charge) but either I am mistaken or their T&Cs are unclear.
