Hi All!
I am trying to help a friend sort out some financial issues caused by what is essentially identity theft by an 'ex' [Unknown loans taken out {using his name, bank details}, credit card debt etc].

Most of the issues are being sorted but we have just uncovered a new loan and the fear is there may be more loans/bad debts. The total bad debt so far is around €50k, but I suspect it will be more. Of course this has all appeared on my friends ICB record and the ex is squeky clean.

I spoke with the Citizens Advice Centre and the Financial Services Regulator and it has been suggested that my friend places a personal notice in a newspaper stating that he will no longer be responsible for any debts incurred in his name by his ex with a view to fending off any debt collectors in the future should any as yet uncovered debts raise their ugly heads. I am wondering if there is a standard form of notice that can be posted or is it best to get his Solicitor to post the notice on his behalf?
Thanks in Advance.
