Hi,
I booked a room at the Express by holiday inn www.hiexpressdublin-airport.com using their web site. The main reason is I have a 6am flight and they had 24 hour courtesy shuttle service but on phoning today to ask about early breakfast I was told the shuttle only starts at 5am even though it is still on web site as 24 hour service.
Can I insist they offer a taxi if shuttle is not working?

Not 100% sure about that but if it's any help Bewleys definitely have 24 hour shuttle service - less than 10 mins to airport from hotel.

thanks,
I am wondering if I would have enough time leaving at 5am for 6am flight with Ryan Air, hand luggage and online check in, hotel is approx 10 mins away.

I wouldn't risk it. Airport is busy at that hour of the morning, security queues are long and Ryanair flights depart from Pier A, a good 10 mins walk after security.

Thanks better get there in time so.
I sent email to hotel as they are still advertising 24 hour coach service if all else fails will have to book taxi as booking form stated full amount would be deducted from credit card at time of booking so propably will not be able to cancel.

If you point out that you booked that hotel on the basis of what is advertised on their website, you may well find that they are prepared to give you a refund. Try calling them and find out. Say that you expect either a full refund, or a free ride to the airport at 4:00 am.

I did that but no joy yet emails still back and forth, hopefully tomorrow.

Ring the Crowne Plaza which is next door as they are owned by the same people. The bus operation seems to be managed from the Crowne Plaza so they will probably have a better answer.

They have a big bus and two min-buses, it might be that the big bus does not start until 5am.

That policy must have changed since last year. I stayed with them and got the shuttle at some ongodly hour like 0430 or something. However it wasn't actually the shuttle - they booked a taxi for the pickup instead. Maybe they realised that this type of arrangement was eating into their profit and so have just dropped the very early morning runs.

After 7 emails all telling me it is not advertised as a 24 hours coach service(it is) and 4 phone calls I was put through to someone in a section not in Dublin, he checked web site and admitted it was still advertised so contacted Dublin and was told 24 hour service was discontinued a month ago but was not taken off web site yet.
I have to phone guest relations in Dublin in morning.
At this stage with phone calls and dial up charges it would be cheaper to get taxi. Room had to be prepaid on booking.

To correct Clubman, the 05.15 service is from Dublin airport rather than to Dublin airport ;-)

If you walk out of Holiday Inn and down to the Swords Road (3 minutes), there are lots of taxi's going by, even at that hour. Lots of taxi's do airport drop offs but do not have the right to pick up at Dublin airport so they are coming back empty.

there was a Carlsberg ad years ago that dreamt of lots of taxis in Dublin... now if only the other Carlsberg ads came true...

Taxi is less than €10, which you have probably exceeded in phone charges at this stage.
