Hi
Has anyone recently got plantation shutters I would be interested to have some idea of availability,prices fitting etc any site on the web seem to be vague and expensive
 
I rang a supplier recently with my measurements for a quote. When I said that I wanted a quote for plantation shutters he said "ah you don;t want them love, they're too dear". After I stopped laughing I asked him to quote me anyway, and he was right, they were too dear. I cannot remember exactly but it was working out at something like €1500 per window - windows were 1166 x 1430. I rang a second supplier and he said about €330 per square metre.
 
I got them earlier this year from Shuttercraft www.shutters.ie. I had two rooms done with shutters and a third with wood-slat blinds and the total was just over €5k, a large proportion of which was for the shutters (don't have the exact breakdown to hand). Bear in mind that my windows are very large. Shuttercraft were the least expensive of the three companies I got estimates from, probably because they make the shutters themselves.

The companies will all come out to your house and do a no-obligation consultation. However, some of them will ask you to take the measurements yourself first so they can give you an approximate quote, just in case you aren't prepared for how expensive they are. Also a couple of the companies don't take credit cards which I thought was mad considering the price of the things. Shuttercraft does which is one of the reasons I went with them.

They took a 50% deposit and said they would be ready in about three weeks. It was actually five and a half. The installation took most of a day.

They do look lovely though and I'm delighted with them, although I'll be paying them off forever ...
 
I'm looking for plantation shutters myself. I've taken note of a company from the North who sell down here (they have an Irish locall number) - not sure if they're going to be any cheaper than the main suppliers though (or if they're one of the couple of companies discussed already). If you want to PM me I'll give you the name in case you haven't tried that company already...
 
Was afraid I couldn't mention the company, however I see some other names are quoted.. It's santafeshutters.com - anyone tried them?
 
thank you all for the info they sure sound expensive but anywhere i have seen them they look great .i will let you know if i find a good cheap supplier
 
Hello dinjoecurry, I have recently brought plantations shutters for my home. I got a huge massive discount on (50% on them) Vinyl bit shutters. The company is very efficient and the new shutters is installed in my home without any delay. If I face any problems with that, company also gave me number to contact the architects. Nice service, I must admit.

Did you get them from the company mentioned above? santafeshutters.com How did you get such a huge discount?
