Paint with Roller - splashes

Does anybody have a solution to the problem of paint splashing a bit when you use a roller? It seems that no matter which roller I use (spongy one or the other one) it causes the tiniest spray of splashes all over me and the surrounding area. Don't want to use a brush instead as the roller covers such a good area so quickly. Any suggestions please?
Thanks.

I always find this happening when I use the roller too and I would imagine its because we put too much paint on it. Probably need to squeeze out more paint before applying.

I think one of the major problems with the roller is that it eats up the paint. Would have to say its great for use on gloss paint which I just hate and want to get the job finished asap.

The trick is not too load the roller with too much paint and don't over thin the paint either. Either way some small "overspray" may be unavoidable so drop sheets are always a good idea.

I bought one in Woodies just a few weeks ago, it was a set with mini-pad, corner pad, large pad and tray, about 10 or 12 euros I think.

As a painter I can tell you Dont use a cheap sponge roller, they are rubbish.
You will have to buy a better quality wool roller and you will see the difference. It will only cost you a couple of euro but its really worth it No splashes and a better finish on your walls.

We've been doing some painting this wknd and the mohair sleeves are pretty good- about 12 euro each and far reduced mess than the sponge or thick pile ones...
Hope that helps,m.

There is a new roller out now which has a chamber that you fill with your paint (you can thin it by adding up to 10% water). It goes on very well and can do a whole wall say in one go without the need to keep loading your conventional roller.
It does not splash. When you are finished just pour any surplus paint in the chamber back into the paint can!

Does the job in a fraction of the time and uses less paint. Think it is for emulsion only.

Great, thanks. Do you happen to know where it's sold?

I am sure that I saw it somewhere like Atlantic - not in the paint section but in the area where they do these agency lines like mops and brushes etc

Can you vouch for it working well or have you just seen an advertisement. It sounds great. Maybe expensive too?
