Hi

Due to fly out to Paris next Wednesday with Aer Lingus. We have hotel and Park Tickets paid for - if there is a strike will we be compensated. Any help appreciated.

You certainly should be but for the air fare alone. Your travel insurance would have to cover the cost of the remainder of the holiday.

However, if you booked the holiday in a period where the likelihood of a stike was in the media, then you could have difficulties with your insurance.

The trip has been booked for the last six months. I didn't take out travel insurance!

Hi Dr Phil
I am due to fly to disney on tuesday, my poor 10yr old cant take her eyes of the news,
I didnt take out insurance with the disney website and think I will lose 738.00 for my hotel have just emailed them to check it out.
Did take the insurance with aerlingus, but thats no consolation when I might have to tell a 5yr and 10yr old that we cant go aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

Please Say Your Prayers

If i could get my money back from Aer Lingus (unlikely) I'd book Ryanair or Aer France. So peed off - we didn't take out the insurance from Disneyland either!

will let you know what they say when they reply, but dont think its looking good, if they are anyway decent they will just charge for the 1st night and refund the rest like most other hotels would as I work in one.
especially as we are not cancelling because we just dont want to go.

Don't panic everyone! 3 days is a long time in aviation, a lifetime when it comes to Aer Lingus!

Aer Lingus will have no problem hiring in other aircraft next week. Chances are you will be late/changed flight but you'll make it...

Am amazed at the number of people who do not have travel insurance. If we buy an item in Argos we pay extra to cover it against breakage or damage. Yet we hand out maybe thousands of pounds for a holiday and do not take out insurance. I take out annual travel insurance every year from my local Credit Union which costs 75euro (2adult + 2 kids) and covers me for travel both within Ireland and abroad. It is a great security to have and gives great peace of mind for such a reasonable cost. I realise this is like rubbing salt in the wound for you folks waiting in anticipation for Aer Lingus outcome next week but let something be learned from this thread. I myself too would be optimistic that things will work out next week re your flights. Enjoy.

Hi guys I did take travel insurance

the travel insurance I took with aerlingus website actually does cover a wide range of things including hotel losses etc.
But then in the claims exclusions you are not able to claim in the event of strike or lockout.

So even with insurance their is always something to exclude your claim.
