Just curious. I paid £2 to download the "In Rainbows" album. Even though they have made a fortune from me over the years, something stopped me from downloading it for free.
favorite song: Reckoner

What's the story with the "physical" (i.e. non download version) of the CD? I thought I heard that it's only availalble as a "deluxe" edition with booklets/fancy packaging etc for something like €45.00.

What's the overall sound Jonny - are there more guitars on this one?

I'd prefer to get the actual CD - but if it's €45.00...

Yeah it seems to be only available for download unless you buy the Vinyl gift set (£40 I think) - not sure if it will be available in shops tho, there is no mention on the website. To answer jonny's question, paid £4.50 (€6.50 odd) meself, still haven't formed an opinion on it yet but some really catchy tunes on it - Reckoner is a cracker alright, 15 Step, Weird Fishes and All I Need are others that are standouts for me so far.
Caveat in terms of sound, it's more in keeping with their recent albums than the older ones, more rhythm and beat than guitar really, but that's no bad thing imo!

Saw on tv, maybe Sky news, that it'll be available in the shops in standard form, early in the New Year.

If you can imagine the last 6 albums rolled into one ---- that's the sound.
Some great guitar tunes ( you'd like "bodysnatchers" & "jigsaw falling") but also some songs where Thoms vocals are very much to the fore.

For me the last 3 albums took a bit of listening too before I realised that I liked them. Not the case here. Loved it first time.Well worth £2

£4 plus 0.45p charge, so 4.45

super album, well worth the price. Would love to see the stats on this one. This is definitely the way forward. All they need to do now is make it unplayable on ipods (in their crazy format) and they will have truly have stuck two fingers up to the music industry

Its almost impossible to encode music or software to this degree in my opinion. Theres always someone out there whole will have a crack before its even released.

Ok - just downloaded it.

I paid £5.45 and will listen tonight - don't know why I waited this long actually.

I heard on the radio last night that only 40% of people actually paid for it and the average price is £2 ... ho hum, so much for putting trust in people to offer a fair price!

Doesn't surprise me at all really.

Edit: BTW, anyone have any issues with the quality of download? I seem to remember hearing some reports of that.

A nail in the coffin for the idea that high prices are behind piracy.

So did you download it yet smarty? ;)

Yep, and you're in for a treat tonight!

Quite laid back, but grows on you with each listen.

Not the album they'll be remembered for in 20 years time - well, not from a musical point of view - but still very good.

Weird Fishes & Reckoner are my current fav's.

Oh yeah - paid a fiver for it.

Think the album's very good BTW - will need to give it a few more listens. For me, Reckoner stands out and 1 or 2 others sounded very good on first listen.

Don't think Radiohead are really capable of making a bad album - thought the last 3 albums were good, particularly Kid A, but I was getting a bit bored with the more experimental stuff TBH. I kind of found myself thinking "yes, yes, very clever, very interesting, very 'brave' but can we have a proper album now?"

...and I regard In Rainbows as a 'proper' album ;)

Yep. Too talented for their own good. I read an interview with Jonny Greenwood last year where he said that the band could knock out another "Bends" Album in a week. They needed to be challenged and thus the experimentation.
One month after purchase my stand out songs are "weird Fishes" and "Jigsaw Falling into place"
