where have they all gone? All we get is ad's these days.

A big part of going to the cinema for me was getting to see the trailers for upcoming movie releases. I was at the cinema last night and I saw one trailer and about 12-16 ads.

Soul destroying stuff

Went to see Michael Clayton in case you were wondering, good film.

There are movie trailers (and ads) on DVDs now - and in some cases, you can't skip them to get to the movie you've rented!

do the ads not depend on the cinema in question? I went to see Michael Clayton in Cineworld last week and there was loads of excellent trailers and not one ad....

It depends on the ads. I remember ads for jewellers on O'Connell St, a certainly Italian cafe at the top of the street (who did good knickerbocker glories and poor chips).

The old Virgin cinemas used to have a good build up to the movie with ads and the THT or something. Great to go watch a movie there at 11.30pm on a Friday, I saw South Park there at such a time with folks dancing in the aisles. Dublin in the rare ould times.

Personally I hate ads and trailers at the cinema, ( and more so on DVD) more so since in London a couple of years ago to see War of the Worlds in Leicester Square we sat through almost an hour of them before the main film started.

Yeah probably. A cinema without ads is something I'd drive an extra few miles for. Is Cineworld the one on parnell st?

With product placement gone mad in movies these days maybe it's just hard to tell?

could be, im usually quite oblivious to it in the movies (unless its very obvious!) and even when I do notice it, I find it quite harmless.

.

Do you play "Guess the trailer" game?

No, hows that work? Not sure if it would be possible at the Cinema I do to. Perhaps we could play "Guess the Ad" !

It's basically guess the name of the film the quickest as the trailer begins.

Terribly unsatisfying if it is a draw and then they only show two trailers.....
