Hi all

I recently heard of a company that you can post your ipod to, and they will upload a ton of songs onto it for you. Any idea of the names of any companies that do this? I don't have the time or inclination to update my ipod and its seriously out of date.

Thanks

So you send them the Cds & your iPod ? And your money ?

Do it yourself you lazy git !!!!

On second thoughts, give me €2 per CD and I'll do it for ya !!

You've already spent longer on this thread than it reasonably takes to sort out the tunes on an Ipod.

Why would u think that? Two posts = 2 mins. Not exactly time consuming. If you've nothing constructive to offer, go to another thread!

In fairness ripping say 30~80GB's of CD's is going to take a while. Then you have to clean up the tags, get the album art etc. Then transfer it to the iPod. If you want high bitrates or lossless it will take considerably longer than low bitrates. Done properly it could take a few hours to a day or two. Working in IT I in occasionally end up trouble shooting iPods/iTunes a bit. I'm always surprised how badly organised people music is, they can't find anything on them. Then theres the low quality bitrates people put on their iPods. Not to mention the terrible earphones they use, when for very little you can buy a half decent set of earphones.

Are you joking me.

Insert CD

Click Get CD tracks names

Drag Albums into Library

Depending on spec of pc its ripped in about 3 mins

I remember hearing on the Last Word about 18 months ago about a company in Ireland which do this for you - I cannot remember the name of the comapany. There are a couple of things that you should note though:
1. They charge you about 1.50 per cd to convert them
2. They just give you back your iPod and cds - at the time they did not offer to give you a backup of your music. This means that if your iPod goes kaputt then you'll have to get the cds converted again (I know when you get back your ipod you could backup the music, but scattered across 50 different folders on the iPod - this is really annoying)
3. Do you not know someone (a younger sister/brother, or one of your kids etc), who would convert the music for you - it's not difficult to do, but it does take time, mostly just sitting at the PC and putting in a cd every so often - my little sister converted my DVD collection for a couple of ;-) If you decide to go with converting them yourself make sure to set the settings in iTunes to what you want (e.g. mp3 format at 192kbps)

Limwire is riddled with virus'. I wouldnt go near it on a windows machine even if you have the latest and greatest anti virus software. I use it on my Mac though and it is pretty good all be it Illegal.

I have a vague memory of hearing some time back that the company which did provide this service was put out of business by the copyright police.

Isn't it a case that you just insert the CD and click import - iTunes gets the track names and art automatically for me.
