Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Hi
Only got my letter last week to say we have been approved. Sent r stuff in last Jan. Such a long process. I just finished college so my partner was the only income earner, so we only got approved for 135,000. Is this worth even getting your hopes up for...So dissapointed.

Hi Maria D,

That is not bad, I'm on 45K and I was approved only for 155k.

Fair play to you and good luck.

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

I tought you had to earn less than 40k to apply to the affordable housing.... has the criteria changed since then?

The criteria has not changed. The 40k limit applies to the previous tax year and by the time my approval came back my salary was increased

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

yeah but only get approved for a year if you don't get a house you have to be reassessed based on your last p60. so if you have got an increase in salary your p60 will be probally be too high next year, you'd want to check it out as you seam fairly fussy as to where you want to live and you will probally go by your years approval.

I'm well aware of that and if you remember that was why I was asking what other people’s opinions were ....you have made yours very clear at the time so I'm not expecting you to re-emphasize it anymore

Either way is a gamble but I'd rather risk not getting anything than living somewhere that I don't like for the next 20 years

And I do not think I'm fussy about where I live but I want to make sure I'll be happy where I live...If you are happy with Martello that does not mean everyone must be and if they aren't then they are fussy.

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Hi, I received a letter telling me I could be eligible to view a place caleld Gleann Ribh in Lusk however they also told me on the phone that I'm 460th on the list

Does anyone know how many units they sell in a week? I'm trying to work out when I'll reach the top of this list.

I received the letter last Thursday and drove out to check out the place on Sunday. I'm not sure, but from looking through the windows the place looks vacant for quite some time. The didn't say how many units were coming up.

Also, it seems that the master bedroom has no window!! I reckon it's a place that has been on the market for quite some time because of this. I'd say people take one look at it and say thanks but no thanks. This is understandable - a master bedroom without a window?!?! Ridiculous.

I called today to arrange a viewing on Thursday and they told me that they would see what they can do. I asked them where I was on the list and they said 460th! Eek.

Does anyone know how many apartments / houses are sold or viewed per week? I reckon I'd be doing well to have a place by this time next year!

Hello again, I don't think even the staff in Fingal County Council would know the answer to this...Even if they knew it would not be shared with applicants.I was trying to find the answer to this question myself but with no luck and as far as I understood from them there is not really a fixed number of units or even a generic average of how may being sold a week/month/year..It depends on new developments the more new developments out there the more you have chances of moving up in the queue faster but note not developments that are being built now! developments that had been built around two yesr ago because it takes two years fro the developers to see what units have less demands to use it as the 20% that they have to give it to the council or probablly takes this long for some reason I'm not aware of.

I think the best thing to do is to ring them and find out how many units there and if there are any new units coming up soon, then if you could share the answer with us.

Cheers
