I know very little about cars and plan to leave my skodia fabia in for a service its a 03 and is in good condition, what should cost me? Also my wife had a scenic 1.9d 01 what should hers cost.

I know the question is a bit, how long is a peice of string but if you ask me some questions for clarity I would be happy answer.

As I said sorry my knowlege on cars is very bad.

Re: What a service should cost?

Phone a bunch of garages for quotes.

Re: What a Service should cost?

There are a few pieces on info required before anyone could give you any answers

Are you planning on having the service carried out by a main dealer?
What mileage is on both cars?
What engine doea your Skoda have

Yes, a main dealer will this cost a lot more or a little?

Skoda, 50k miles
Scenic, 60k miles

The Skoda engine is a 1.4 petrol (red i)

Re: What a service should cost?

Should quotes from main dealer to main dealer vari greatly? Is there no a standard price list?

Some prices here: http://www.advancepitstop.com/index.php?id=170

Does anyone know of a garage with will change a Scenic timing belt (1.4l 16v MK1 PH2) in Dublin and for how much? Most garages what know what they are talking about will not touch them! Is there such a thing as a good independent Renault specialist :)

Ive been told its 650E - 750E with an option of the following extras, change fanblet, water pump, pwer sterring belt and fan belt. This figure does not included a service or the extras.

I feel for that sort of money may be it should. As stated earlier I'dont know much about cars.

For a start, unless you are very particular, I wouldn't bother sending the cars to a main dealer - can cost a lot more.

Sounds about right. :-( I have copy of the Renault workshop manuals CDs (horrible Java application) and from memory it states that All drive belts should be replaced as standard when changing the Scenic timing belt. I'll have to reinstall it

I my way in to work this morning a saw a Megan packed with Renault Service costs on the back window, I was on the Luas so did not have time to read it properly :-(

So how much should a timing belt on a Scenic cost? in the laois area? Do any of you have the name of a garage?

Those are not for a Scenic timing belt. AFAIK the engine need to be dropped out, which added greatly to the costs. I have not found a small garage which will do it, and have done one before. If they have done one befoe, they are not interested in doing another! So it looks like a main dealer only job.

Renault specify (for petrol, dont know about the 1.9 diesel) 72,000 Miles or 5 years whichever is sooner, for a new belt. While most garages recommend 50,000 miles.
