Buying a car on trade-in

Hi, I own a Daewoo Lanos 2001 with 65,00 miles on it.
The car needs a new camshaft and the NCT is also up on it.
For this and various other reasons I am thinking about changing the car.

This will be the first time I've bought a car really (I bought the Lanos from a family member so it doesn't really count).
My question is this: If I bought a used car from a dealer would they accept my car as a trade-in given that it needs a new part or would they accept it as scrappage or what would my options be?
Thanks

Ask the dealer. All you'll get here is meaninless opinions.

I'd fix it first if I were you. Otherwise you'll get buttons for it. Might be easier to replace engine if the cam is gone.

i wouldn't fix it. A garage is likely to be able to get it done cheaper than you. Try them and see.

That car isn't going to be worth much anyway though, as a trade in.

65k is very little mileage. you say the camshaft is gone. if the car is still running, that might not be the case. a broken camshaft will cause the same damage as a broken timing belt. usually there would be a big bang and the engine locks up. if its still running it might be quite straightforward to fix.
daewoos lanos are a terrible investment. your relative probably sold it to you as they couldnt trade it anywhere. i very much doubt a garage will give you any kind of a good deal. chances are that if they will take it and you were buying a car for x + your daewoo, they would sell you the same car for x + no trade in.
my advice, investigate the problem further and either sell it privately for whatever you can get or get it fixed and run it into the ground.

Average price of a 01 lanos on cbg is 3500 so garage prob would give you a lot less than that.
