I'm looking at the moment to buy my first car i really like the look or the 206 maybe between '00 and '04 but i'm getting mixed opinions off my relatives

can someone please tell me is the car any use or not for a first time driver?

I used to own a 206 a 00 it gave me nothing but trouble. Maybe it was just because it was a good few years old I had trouble with it.

I've had peugeots since and no trouble. Would you not consider a ford fiesta/ka? vw polo?

If you like the look of the 206 go for it but make sure all the paper work and servicing has been done.

I'd say there is some great deals around now especially with the 207 out.I'd say there trying to flog the 206's.

And one more thing there are LOADS OF 206'S in the country so take your time while looking. Happy car hunting. :)

This is very true.
Tried to sell a 2005 one last year privately and had no interest at all. The market is flooded with them.
Personally, I wouldn't touch one.
They sell on their looks alone to girls mainly...

The Peuget 206 HDI is a good car for commuting as apparently it gets over 70 miles to the gallon with the diesel.

It is a small car for commuting (bigger cars tend to be more comfortable) but the efficiencies far outweigh the size issues.

My husband has a 2003 Peuget 206 HDI for commuting. It's a handy car and he reckons that he gets over 70 miles to the gallon with the diesel..

I would have to agree with this. I used to have a diesel 1.4 hdi and I just for the life of me could not waste the diesel in the car. absolutely fab and pulled great. shop around and see can you get a 1.4 hdi 206. Mine was a 1.1 petrol and it drank petrol 70/80 pw unreal.

I have a 00 206 low milage but loads of issues, the latest is the left indicator comes on by itself and i cannot turn it off, its apparently a common fault, which will cost 200 euro to fix.. there are some good sites like www.honestjohn.co.uk which give you details of what to expect.. pity i didnt read before buying
