Hi, Going to importing some sporting goods from China for re-sale in Ireland. As I'm not familiar with the process I could do with some help!

a). Prices were quoted FOB and Ex-Works, what's the difference?
b). Any idea of the custom duties that would be charged?
c). Who is the best, most reliable and cost effective freight group to use to import the goods? Any ideas on costs?

Thanks

If its of any assistance I know a guy (Chinese) who regularly imports into Ireland. He is in China at the moment. If u like I will give you his mobile if you PM me. He speaks English very well.

You should be aware that there are severe penalties for importing counterfeit goods. (just in case that's the plan!) There are quite a few people buying fake golf clubs for example in China and trying to sell them on in Ireland.

In terms of FOB or Ex works, these are inco terms which are set that determine the lines of responsibility such as [broken link removed]. You need to determine these terms as part of the purchase.

Exworks and fob arent much use. Find out what the c&F price is to your door, all in and PM me, I have a pal who will tell you if its competitive.

You need to contact customs office for this info as each product will have a different duty value

Depends on quantities, size/weight etc etc.

Thanks
