Hi,
I checked the old chimney posts but can't see anything relating to this so maybe someone can give me some advice.
I moved into an older house which we renovated. It used to have an open fire, but we installed a gas fire instead. Now our neighbour is saying that they are getting a smell from the gas residue coming down their chimney (and that it's coming from our gas fire). They are saying it's probably because the chimney needs to be lined.
Anyone ever had to line a chimney? How do you go about it? Any ideas on cost? First of all I have to check that what the neighbour is saying is correct so I'm going to have someone from the gas company round to make sure we don't have any leaks etc. How do I check if my chimney needs to be lined?
All a bit nightmarish. We've just spend thousands on renovations - I'm horrified at the thoughts of having to do more if this is a big job.
