Where?

The Houses are in Co. Clare but that is irrelevant i know there are contractors out there who carry out these jobs as i said i had Mail shots from different company's a number of years ago they were operating out of Dublin.

I wouldn't think so. A Dublin based contractor is surely going to have to stay overnight while carrying out this work, and there's only one person who is going to pay for that!

You'd be better off consulting someone with a bit of local knowledge, as with all trades word of mouth is the best recommendation.

Painter wants €12 a square metre to paint 2 houses ( approx. 1000 square metres of wall) Does anybody know if this is a reasonable rate? Sounds a lot to me

There are a number of previous threads on this already, including this one. You'll find the others via the search facility.

Clarify what your painter is quoting for though, is it floor area or wall surface area? You should get a total quote including materials, labour, and VAT. Don't just agree a rate per square metre, that's an invitation for trouble.
