What Stations available on Free-To-Air

If you are talking about FTA satellite the following are the main channels available

BBC1, 2, 3, 4, NEWS24, CBBC, CBEEBIES

ITV1, 2, 2+1, 3, 3+1, 4, CITV

SKY NEWS, BLOOMBERG, CNN, EURONEWS and a couple of other news channels

FILM 4, FILM 4+1 and various other movie channels

Several music channels including Bubble Hits

The channels listed above are the most well known and popular. There is also a large number of shopping channels, gaming channels, religious channels and dating channels etc.

The above are found on the same satellites as the sky channels so if you have a sky dish in your house already you could purchase a FTA receiver.

Other satellites contain FTA channels also but most dishes in Ireland point at the satellites sky use.

Am very ignorant of the TV scene. Basically we are currently on Chorus (analogue) and have just got our renewal but somebody has mentioned this Sky-To-Air system whereby you just have a one-off payment for installation and that's it but I haven't a clue what it involves, what I need, where to go to have it done, stations available on it, etc. etc. Any info much appreciated.

Just call any local satellite / sky installer and ask for costs on a FTA system. Note you will not get RTE 1 & 2 / TV3 / TG4 / CH4 on any FTA system.

Thanks a mil euroDilbert. Have e-mailed them for quotation and will see how I get on. Does anybody have any experience of this company?

I have found this to be a useful site to answer questions on satellite, particularly relating to what FTA stations are available.
