Which Irish bank can offer me an online banking service that allows you to:

- make transfers free of charge to Irish accounts
- make transfers free of charge to UK + European accounts
- pay standing orders free of charge
- pay bills free of charge

Thanks in advance for advice.

I doubt anyone allows free Sterling transfer to the UK. Apart from that, AIB have all of the above. All free (including free Euro transfers to UK Euro accounts), provided you qualify for free banking.

I suspect Halifax allow free online Euro tranfers too, but I'm not sure.

Halifax don't. What do you need to qualify for free online banking? I currently have an account with Bank of Ireland but am thinking of closing it. Their online banking service is poor, only thing that I can do is actually check my balance. Can't make any Eurozone transfers.

Sorry esperanza2, you're not right there.

Halifax do indeed facilitate International Euro Payments for no charge.

see this post for info and link

I'm with NIB and have free banking.

I find their online service very good, certainly in comparison with Ulster, BoI and AIB, all of which I've used for business accounts.

All online transfers are free, though I'm not sure about to the UK.

So far, I see AIB is the only bank that offers intra-EU and UK transfers online free of charge. I will check out National Irish Bank for that. Thanks

In any case, Bank of Ireland's online banking service probably is among the least interesting.

Is there any comparision or reports done by an independent body into the best online banking services in Ireland?

Wrong! I just called them this morning to check and they don't offer this on their online banking service, only the paper transfers.

Sorry about that esperanza2, I want to acknowledge that you are correct

I was mislead by Halifax's Fees and Charges, which I linked to. It does not include online International Euro Payments.

See [broken link removed].

Please accept my apologies.

Hello,

I have been using AIB online banking for a couple of years and to give them credit, it is excellent. I don't transfer into sterling accounts but for what I do,
credit card, current accounts, online savings, paying bills, topping up mobile credit etc. I never once had a problem.
