Anyone see Top Gear last night? great show Jer and James went to the morth pole in a jeep! very funny and I hope it repeats.

Is Top Gear back on? I thought Sunday night was the usual night?

If you were watching it on UKTV Gold, it will certainly be repeated.

A sad irony seeing that these vehicles are actually contributing to polar damage. Is this a warped method of showing the native wildlife what is destroying their habitat?

I presume you are being sarcastic, I thought they handled the "environmental" issue very well last night - great television.

Some people would debate that...including climatologists who see no correlation between co2 and climate change but rather the reverse. I like to keep an open mind. There's compelling arguments on boths sides...as I've recently discovered.

On the show itself...was a good one I thought. A lot of people complain about the direction TG has taken. I myself like it though...it's more about personalities than cars. And when it is about cars it's about very fast ones. There's always Deals on Wheels for people who want motoring programmes about Fiestas!!

How can they 'handle' the issue? They are still frivolously burning oil to get to the ice cap and then across it:confused:

Absolutely.

Bringing light entertainment to millions should be banned if it means burning a few gallons of diesel.

If the ice cap held while they drove across it then I guess Global Warming is a myth and we should be thankful to Jezza and Captain Slow for illustrating this point.

What were they driving?

I have to say I really enjoyed the show, the only thing that gets me is when Jeramy does these shows driving to Finland v ferry - he gets some amazing super car...

Why doesn't he try driving to somewhere in a Ford Cortina - and the other guys can fly/ bus/ train - possibly even walk to where ever...

And who wants to see an amazing super car?

Btw, he was driving to Oslo when he raced the SLR against the other two.

They appeared to have a bunch of Icelandic ice driving specialists with them.

There was a t least two more hiluxs in the convoy.
So it was the usual British thing about how the two guys did it, but no mention of who actually got them there???

AFAIK, it was not the Geographic North Pole at 90 degress north, it was the magnetic north pole approx 82 degrees north that is somewhere north of Canada's Sverdrup Island.
There compasses were reading 78 degress odd when they were raving that they had reached the pole.
Actually in last few years it has been calculated to be moving further north and is about 82 degrees according to Geological Survey of Canada.

There is a big difference and most of the media blurbs seem to forget this salient fact.

Still good program but what happened to the jeeps and pickups?

Anyone fancy a trip to pick up few hi-luxs, one careful owner ;)

What is a tree-hugger anyway? Someone who is concerned about wasting a finite resource and perhaps even causing the destruction of the planet? What a buch of idiots they must be!

yep , thats them.... dam those hippies....
