Accidentally stained carpet with Oxiclean!

Help! Im minding some cats for a friend and one of them puked on her light grey carpet on the weekend. I got some Vanish Oxiclean thinking that would do the trick, but its turned the carpet a horrible brown colour now. Anyone any idea how to fix this?The owners back tomorrow?

Buy a rug No seriously, maybe you should rent out a carpet cleaner from the local plant hire shop.

Try Vanish mousse thats usually used on carpets. Isnt the oxi for clothes? It might have changed the colour of the dye though.

I wasnt even thinking..just presumed vanish stuff could be used on most things! Am afraid to go near it again with anything else now..! The carpet is wrecked looking! Sob!

I'd wait until friend gets back, rather than risk making it worse. At least if they take action and make it worse, they're responsible. You were doing them a favour and their cat threw-up. You attempted to clean up, and it didn't work out. Same thing could have happened to them. It's not like you had a party in the house and are trying to hide it.

It might help to distract them with something else, e.g. the sick cat and how looking after it was your number one priority! Alternatively, get the cat to throw up on the rest of the carpet, apply the same "cleaner", and achieve a uniform new colour.
