Hot water pressure

our plumber has installed our taps and the cold water flows much quicker than the hot. he said this is because the irish mains are not suited to EU taps,as the water pressure in the EU is much higher, hence the slower flow of water...would this be true??

...so, he's saying there's different pressure on the hot and cold???

That sounds daft..........

I assume you are talking about the kitchen taps. A lot of houses have a differential between the hot and cold at kitchen sink as you are taking a feed directly from the mains supply for the cold and from your hot water cylinder for the hot.

Your bathroom taps would have equal pressure.

The plumber is correct. You need a pump to balance the hot & cold if you have European taps . The hot tap pressure is coming from the tanks in the attic which is different to the mains water pressure

The prob is the supply fo water from the hot water cylinder.
I had the same prob and had to fit an electric pump.
I got one in B&Q and fitted it myself, it does hot and cold and made
a huge difference. All under €200 as well.

Many taps imported from Europe have smaller nozzles and the flow rate using a gravity fed system is quite low and sometimes non existant. This applies to toilets also. The only remedy is to pressurise your system.
