Accommodation in Algarve
Hi Folks
I managed to get a great deal for flights for 2 adults + 1 child ( myself ,the missus and my son 7) into Faro airport on Saturday 18th August
Can anyone recommend a resort for me to stay in and also a reasonably priced hotel/apartment ?
I have been searching round and not much .I would like to stay close to the beach and amenities to keep us entertained, i aint into hiring cars when abroad, prefer to be central and just chill out near the beach etc.

Praia de rocha seems to be getting a bit of a bad reputation in various forums, would Albufeira be the better option for a family orientated peaceful holiday ?

I need to source the apartment/hotel at a reasonable price or she will kill me

Cheers for any pointers or referrals you can give me

natura sun club in area sa jaoa, near the old town of Albferia is lovely. Studio apartments have separate kitchens and are really big. No need for car, loads to see and do nearby.

Beach santa eualia is 5 mins walk and really lovely.

I agree albuferia - montechero area are brilliant, we have been there twice before and are heading back there again in august (5 years since we were there last). Club praia d'oura is lovely we stayed there twice before and Oura praia and Oura View Beach Club are all owened by the same group and brilliant! Right on the beach and just a short stroll to the strip at night time.

Club praia d'oura studio's are small with a child and do not have air con, but so so clean - we are going to Oura View Beach Club this time, but we have it booked since last October as it sell out quickly.

I would agree with above, Albufeira is a lovely family oriented resort. Montechero is probably a bit more lively.
Albufeira has a beautiful pedestrianised old town square where all the bars, restaurants and shops are located and seems very safe.
Montechero, however has a 'strip' which is full of bars and nightclubs and would not be as safe for children

My own personal recommendation would be Villamoura, which is a beautiful marina resort.
We stayed in the Pinhal da Marina complex last year and will definitely go back there.

These apartments are great but a bit of a walk from anything and vilamoura is a bit quiet as well - great beaches but not much else.

Stayed in the vila petra apartments in albufeira(montechero) last year and have to say they were about the best i've stayed in. About a 15 minute walk to beach.

True, it is about a 10 minute walk from the complex to the marina.
It's a nice walk though and it means that the area around the complex is quiet.
I thought Villamoura was a perfect destination for anybody with kids, followed closely by Albufeira

Oura View Beach Club and Club Praia D'Oura are both on the beach, and a short walk to the nightlife and shops - we loved to go down to the strip arount 6.30 ish and have a bite to eat go for a stroll along it and browse in the shops and watch the world pass by and when we went home later it's lovely and quiet and peaceful.
Albuferia is about 2.5 km and you can walk along the beach to get there.

If you check out owners direct website. Lots of apartments all over the Algarve. They have a last minute section.
