My daughter is 4 and a half and is asking to have her ears pierced.
I am inclined to let her as I don't want to say no just for the sake of it.
Does anybody think she's a little young for this, considering it's going to be painful.....i have warned her that she will feel pain but she's still pretty keen to get it done.
Has anyone's child suffered any side effects from it?
She's going on hols in two weeks so I'm thinking of waiting until she comes home, incase she gets them infected over there.

So you're going to say yes just for the sake of it?

Since when did 4 year olds start making decisions in this country, did we lose a war or something?

I think it's important to let children make some decisions in their own lives (within reason obviously)......is that a bad thing?

I'd leave it for a couple of years, let her be a little girl for a while longer - Get it done for her communion - not only do i think it looks a bit tacky so young she'll soon want something else when the novelty has gone. You will also get other children pulling at them and the pain from the infection will be a lot worse than from the piercing.

Thank you....that's the kind of mature advice that i'm looking for.......maybe i'll have a chat with her about waiting for her First Communion.....i like the idea of keeping her as a child for as long as i possibly can!

This is either a medical issue or a Shooting The Breeze issue.

Medical issues should not be discussed on Askaboutmoney.

Chat can be had in Shooting The Breeze when you have enough posts.
