Rain-proof trainers?

Are there such things as rain-proof trainers? I reckon there must be, as athletes run/walk in all sorts of weather. I have recently moved office and have a much longer walk to work. I always wear trainers when walking to work. Whenever it rains (frequently!) I've noticed that the trainers let the rain in almost immediately. They're not damaged in any way (fairly new) but they just let the rain through, from top to bottom. Are there rain-proof ones, or are there covers one can put over trainers when it rains??
Thanks.

Yes there are, plenty of them. I have a Nike pair which contain Goretex. I've had them for a year now and regularly walk on wet grass. They haven't let any water in yet.
Try a good sports store or outdoor clothing store. I got mine in 53 Degrees North in Carrickmines, Dublin. (I have no connection with the store.)
