Finding books/ film footage of Dublin fairs in the 50s/60s

My father is a cattle dealer and used to sell cattle in the Dublin fairs back over fifty years ago. He is always reminising about those days and would love to see old photos or better still old film footage of the fairs back then.
It's his birthday next month and I'd love to surprise him by having something to get nostalgic over.

Any ideas of where I could start looking for this?
I've tried Google but very little of use turned up......!
 
you could try the National Photographic Archive in Temple Bar, part of the National Library. Or on the Northside of the Liffey there is a treasure trove of a shop (can't remember the name though) that sells prints of photos of street scenes, buildings etc from around the country in yesteryear. Quite an easy place to search as everything is ordered by location.

I can't remember its name either, but I used to pass it and always looked in the window. It was on Ormonde Quay or the one next to it, closer to the city - but I think it is closed now. Maybe somebody could confirm?

It's closed alright, wasn't there some mention of it on AAM before? Did it move somewhere else? There's a guy in Blackrock market who also sells lots of old photographs, also ordered by county/town/theme.
 
Thanks for all the suggestions folks!

I went in to my local library as well and the nice lady there said she would try to find out if there were any archives of film from that time depicting the cattle fairs and the people who made their living at them.

My father has got me fascinated about the whole thing as well with his stories of walking cattle from Dunsink into the centre of Dublin to be sold!!
 
Would RTE have anything in their archives?

I know they have copyright but know of somebody who bought a copy (of a documentary) from them. Might be a possibility?
