Hi All,

Mrs d2 has a 00 Micra and the radio unit has stopped working altogether as in it won't even power on. I've checked and replaced the relevant fuse and I've also dismantled the dash and checked the connections at the back of the radio. All seemed fine......Any other ideas what I could check ??

Thanks,

Can you check the wires coming from the ignition switch to the radio? It could be the radio itself; caonnect it to the 12v cigarette outlet on the dash to confirm. It'll be easier to do if you had a multimeter to tell you what power is running through the cables.

Many radios also have an in-line fuse on the 12v line close to the back of the stereo, some have a fuse within the radio itself but usually easily accessible.

After that, if you have a meter, you could check that you're getting 12V to the radio with the ignition on (or at acc). As it's a 00, it almost certainly has one of the standard ISO connections at the back. You could try connect a radio from another car into this. If that works, the problem is with the radio, if not, in the wiring leading to the radio.

Leo, there was a fuse at the back of the radio but I didn't have one of the same type to check but I'll get one and try that ! I don't have a meter but as the saying goes, I know a man who does !!
