Hi All
im looking to go away for a week or two with 2 kids ,im amazed at the price of trabolgan and banna beach (a grand a week!!) any suggestions appreciated ,thx

a friend of mine went to a hotel in Mayo last year (Westport, I think) and he told me that they had a kid's club organised every day they were there (a week, I think). He said they took them to the beach, farms, etc.. Sorry can't think of the name of hotel or where it was but if you google you might find it.....

How about Bundoran - great spot! :) Very kid friendly. Try the Tyrconnell holiday homes which are right beside the crazy golf, pitch n putt and the tennis courts!

I am not associated with those holiday homes BTW.

Bundoran is quite rough though...a few of us surf there and you do get some dodgy types, especially from Norn Iron

Yeah . ..you could say the same for a lot of places nowadays .. .most people in Bundoran at the weekend have a good time. Surely kids would be in bed at that stage anyway . . .it's not like they'd be heading up the town at night and bumping into the rough element.

We're renting a 2 bed cottage in Wexford, just outside the town for a week in July/ August at €500; I thought this was okay for a family of four. Most of the self catering accommodation in Ireland for July or August starts at around €600 and can go right up to €900 (some complexes want extra for cots and towels as well!) and more depending on location, number of bedrooms, facilities etc. I wasn't prepared to spend any more than €600 anyway.

We rented a house in Doonbeg, Co. Clare with the below company. The house was immaculate and there was a rep around for a few hours every day if there was a problem.
They have houses for rent all over Ireland and am definitely going to go with them again.
Doonbeg is very quiet but there's easy access to Kilkee which has a very safe beach, swimming pool, nice pubs and grub and also it's close to Lahinch which has an aquarium, beach, pool and again nice pub and grub.
I found renting a house with kids ideal as they had the run of the place and i had access to a washing machine and dishwasher. It was nicer than my own house!!

Have you a supervalu card? If so, you could book a holiday home in Ireland for €499. The best of them could be booked up now but you could try. You could also book a midweek break at a hotel - the rate of around €240 includes 3 nights B/b and an evening meal and 2 kids free. Their website is good supervalugetawaybreaks.ie. I think bookings cease on 30th June.

the super valu are available at all time if they are not busy so you might get them for july and august I got one last year in August. The quality inn in Killarney has nice cottages and I think are well priced.

hi there - are you set on renting a house or would you be up for camping? Ok - you may be coming back not so refreshed yourself but kids in general love it. Great campsite in tralee beside the aquadome place and handy for visiting parts of Kerry. Could also consider campsite close to Trabolgan and avail of day passes?
