How to get rid of mice nicely?

No way!!!!!!

I hope your joking.. otherwise Ill have to eat that jar and go and buy more!
Maybe my mouse is different, he has already shown some remarkable skills in evading capture so maybe hes a different sort of mousewith different tastes....

Had to buy peanut butter too but they do a LOVELY crunchy one there thats go low salt levels in it so really tasty

I'm glad you are watching his sodium levels. The salty stuff would be bad for his health God forbid! ;)

You don't have to kill the mouse, how about a cat, he'll do the job for you now and in the future.

I've got those plug-in ultrasonic yokes all over the house and haven't seen or heard a mouse in the 3 years we've been using them.

grahamo,

There may well be other reasons for that because in my experience they do not work.

My daughter couldnt stand those ultrasonic things, you know the ones that people arent supposed to be able to hear, well young kids have much better hearing than people over 25 and she could hear them, so not good if you have kids or kids visiting.

Once you have tried all the normal solutions (and to be honest a cat or a trap or poison is the best way)

A friend of mine was driven to distraction by mice that she just couldnt get rid of, so she wrote them an eviction notice, gave them 7 days to quit, 'posted' in the mousehole...and I kid you not they left!

A buddhist nunnery in the city I lived in in Australia, had a problem with rats, of course being good buddhists they couldnt kill the vermin, so they chanted 'at' them asking them to leave...and they went!

Of course when I had mice I just laid down bait, but if I were desperate I would certainly try the eviction notice!

Are you serious, the mice just walked out?

On another note, how is your sink?

!

Well it didnt work with the Chinese in Tibet.

Well thought id fill you all in....

Mouse has eaten through an empty packet of peanuts that I had in a basket under the sink to be recycled.
The mouse trap with th bloody peantu butter in it was right beside it and he never touched it!!

Had another on the bathroom floor baited with same peanut butter and couldn't believe when I went upstairs after work and discovered the trap chewed on one end!!!

.......it wasn't a mouse.... it was my terrier had discovered the thing and tried to break in!!

Back to the beginning i guess......

Leaving stuff like that lying around is just encouraging them. Have they been getting into your presses and contaminating your food too I wonder?

No this is just the recycling cupboard, the food presses etc are all safe.
Are you sure? Mice are very resourceful and adept at getting to where the food is. Check for droppings and gnawed holes in packaging etc.

The only way a cupboard is safe from mice or rats is if it's metal or stone. They'll gnaw their way through wood or plastic.

Definitely no droppings anywhere else in any of the other cupboards as am cleany freak and have checked numerous times, thats kinda why I think we only have one mouse. its just the one cupboards that has no backing as its on an outside wall where the water supply comes in under the sink

I've never had any luck with peanut butter - yes, yes, catching mice before you all trip back down porn alley.

I would try banana on the traps.

Bacon rind is also supposed to be a winner (not sure if it should be smoked or not, perhaps some pancetta in a light sauce?).

If you are going to use bacon rind, hold a match under it for a few seconds until the fat sizzles and melts. Wind some thread around it. The smell will attract the wee timorous cowrin' beastie, and the thread will catch in his teeth. His attempts to free himself should activate the trap, and he'll be detained long enough to get caught.

Of course you could always give the Bounty a go....

Bacon rind , peanut butter , bananas ? Sounds like now you are giving them room service :D
