Confused re: Broadband charges

Hi,
I am living in Castletroy in Limerick and i'm looking to get broadband in at home. I'm a bit confused about the whole process!
My landline is not activated at the moment and we have no plans to do so. I have a few questions:


1. If we want to get broadband in do we have to reconnect our phone line?
2. Will we have to pay a monthly line rental charge on top of the monthly payment for broadband even if we will not be using a landline phone at any stage

3. Has anyone know of good deals/ have had a good experience in getting broadband in my locality?

If you want landline based broadband (ADSL) then yes. But you might be able to opt for non landline based broadband (e.g. cable, wireless, satellite, 3G etc.).

www.getbroadband.ie is an excellent price comparison website that gives you packages in order of price, speed, or company depending on how you customise it.

The new 3G mobile Broadband (3DataModem USB) is another option. its slow though.
