Hi

I was princin places myself 4 nov nd for a wkend in prague i priced accommodation & flights for about €160 pp

am just back from krakow it was lovely and they people are lovely
i will be going back .

I've had a couple of nice weekend breaks in Brussels during the winter. depending on your timings you may find that the Christmas markets are on.
there is a lot to do, and bottom line I have a soft spot for a nation that have chocolate and beer as some of their main industries ;-)
There is some good shopping, nice food and if you want to do the museum thing the Military one is excellent (after all most main wars in Europe managed to be faught in Belgium for the past 200 years).

we went to London a few years ago it was lovely. really near too if kids got sick and you can get great prices on flights. We did have a really good time there, saw all the sites and the night clubs are great.

Why don't you ask her where she would like to go?

sorry only just spotted that your wife is English so London popdably not such a good idea. Paris is nice hubbie brought me there as well - he's so good!! this year I got Letterkenny and while there is nothing wrong with that it's just not the same as getting on a plane out of Ireland. Before all you letterkenny people attack me we had a lovely time and would go back in a second!

As someone from the area-that's great to hear-but somewhat surprising!

Did you spend all your time in Letterkenny?

Personally, I would prefer to get out of the country for a weekend in November-Rome, Madrid or Barcelona might be nice.

Rome definately sounds good,it's a surprise 30th present
i forgot to mension!thanks for replys everyone.

Hi

What about one of the winter destinations, such as the Chrismas markets in Poland or Germany ... snow, lots of things to buy, all very rosemantic .... Copenhaegen is another one worth a punt, the Tivalli Gardens are done up for Christmas, from around November (no doubt you can find full info on this, via google etc)

Cheers

Hi,

I would definatly recommend Karlsruhe in Germany. There is a direct flight from Dublin with Ryanair.

It is in the south of Germany near the French border. For your wife there is a 4 story shopping mall in the town, it has a very relaxed atmosphere with alot of good shops, monuments and things to see.

The beer there is just out of this world aswell as the food, vast majority of people speak English, when I was there the language barrier was no problem.

We went last for around €200pp(that includes flights and 4 star accommodation which is lovely)

If you want info drop me a pm and I can give you the accommodation etc.

I agree about Krakow. Loved NY too but if you're looking for somewhere nearer I'd definitely go for Krakow. Short drive from the airport. Very good standard of hotels and restaurants at excellent prices. Lovely main square surrounded by bars, and cafes where you can sit and watch the world go by. (I was there mid 0ctober last year and the sun was beaming down for 3 days.) People were very friendly and spoke very good english. Shopping seemed to be good (didn't really go for the shopping, I just browsed in some of the shops and spotted some lovely winter coats and leather boots). A full day trip with driver to Auschwitz and Birkenau was E60 between 4 of us. Overall I thought it was a fantastic city. I've been to most major cities in Europe and it's probably my favourite.
Here's another option much closer to home! Book a lakeshore suite for 3 nights, trust me she'll be impressed!
