I would like to have music in my kitchen as I like to listen when Im cooking. I was thinking of buying an IPod cos I am starting to build up my music collection on my laptop and should probably transfer to an IPod.
Is the sound from those docking stations any good?
Is 30gb sufficient space? Does anyone have those video ones? Are they worth the extra money?

30GB is circa 7000 songs.
Video docking stations? didnt know the existed.
If i were you i would forget all that, buy yourself good speakers like gateway and bring you Ltop into the kitchen.
But if you want to get the ipod it's not a bad investment.
But you're definitely better watching videos on a laptop screen anyway, the ipod screens are just too small.

Hope that helps.

I have a Bose docking station in the kitchen and find it is ideal for it's purpose as an additional stereo in the house; the sound is clear and stable. As far as the quality of the sound, in my opinion it is very good although there are probably musical puritans who are appalled by the notion. For listening to music while cooking it is ideal.

The JBL On Time speaker or the more recent JBL Radial are quite good - good sound, powers and iPod, has a line-in for other MP3 players, has a radio. Only the Radial has a remote control, unfortunately.

Neither run off batteries, though, which might be an issue if you want to take it on holidays.

Thanks sorry my post was a bit confusing - not video docking stations (ipods) obviously as I dont have an ipod currently I would consider the video one
The JBL speakers look good, although a bit pricy at around €260
Do they produce a much better sound than ipod docking stations?
I have a samsung mp3 player only 1 gb - would that plug into the JBL?
