Our washing machine drum is making a scraping sound like it's making contact with something when turning. Works fine but makes a fierce noise when spinning, is there a common cause for this.

Hi There

I've seen this before, the cause in my case was the underwire from a common piece of ladies clothing had escaped!

Def sounds like an underwire. When the machine is empty, run your fingertips along the drum perforations on the inside of the machine... you should at some stage feel the tip of the wire poking through - just remove it with a pair of pliers

I had this too. Although, it was the concrete block that had come loose and was resting on top of the drum. Better to check it before you use it again.

Easier said than done ;)

It's also possible that it's something more serious such as the bearings gone on the drum in which case it's probably not cost efficient to repair.
