Good luck with that. I did that before and they froze my card because they thought I was money laundering. Could only get my own money back when I was able to furnish them with details as to where it had come from. Beaurocracy

How much did you want to load onto your card? MBNA could well have legally obliged to verify the source of funds.
AFAIK MNBA charge a cash handling fee (on top of a conversion fee) for this type of transaction, whereas some of the other institutions, such as BOI and ptsb, do not charge the cash handling fee (but will charge a currency conversion fee). Also BOI and ptsb will not charge this fee, even if you don't prefund the account, provided the account is paid off in full by the payment date detailed on the next statement.
Quite a bit and yeah, it made sense afterwards, just didn't think the Money Laundering legislation was that extreme, because it had been a bank draft I had lodged to my MBNA account, which I thought showed a proper paper trail.Was just really annoying at the time as it took nearly a month to get my money back.
