I was listening to a Radio 4 programme on extinct languages and they spoke about an extinct version of English spoken in Wexford! I had never heard of it before but lo and behold, Wikipedia has an article on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yola_language

And what about the extinct language spoken in North Dublin called Fingalian?

Surely its now the time to make the push to have them as official EU languages together with Ulster Scots.;)

On that note I support the frivolous nature of gaeilge as an EU language - if the EU can waste money on banana curviture regulations then gaeilge is much more worthy

As Commission Regulation (EC) 2257/94 puts it, bananas must be "free from malformation or abnormal curvature". In the case of "Extra class" bananas, there is no wiggle room, but Class 1 bananas can have "slight defects of shape", and Class 2 bananas can have full-on "defects of shape".
