Hotel in Chicago

Hi,

I am going to Chicago this July for a weekend – I was looking at staying in Fitzpatricks / Affinia but I see on their website that they are carrying out quite extensive renovations until next Autumn. Has anyone stayed with them while the renovations have been going on and, if so, did it impact significantly on your stay?

Would anyone be able to recommend a similar hotel in such a central location? I’m not familiar with
Chicago and don’t want to end up booking a hotel miles from the action!

Thanks,
WB

Anywhere close to North Michigan Avenue (a.k.a. the Magnificent Mile) is as central as you get

Google Maps shows some hotels here

In Chicago the Sheraton is fab, located at the top of Michigan Avenue. Avoid the Grand Hyatt, what a dump. We've also staed in the James which is half way down North Michigan, location is second to none but the hotel is a little too trendy. We got a great deal on hotwire but I wouldn't be paying its advertised price.

I second The Sheraton.
It is a very nice hotel and not that expensive in the grand scheme of things.
The location is perfect.
BTW, the beds are the most comfortable I have every slept in.

Hi
I'd recommend the Whitehall. Its a small hotel, absolutely lovely, beautiful bed rooms, full of character and a one minute walk from Michigan Avenue. Its on East Deleware Place, so its at the top of Michigan, very convenient for the shops at Water Tower, 900 Michigan etc. You will not be disappointed
