Extra tape for drinking water?

Anybody any experience of having a treatment system installed for treating water for drinking. A saleman called to my friend's house selling this system. He instals a extra tap and the water is filtered through this. The cost €3000.00. He show her some test on her own tap water by useing some kind of whisk and the water turned green.
 
This sounds like the scam that has been going on with a while - look up the threads about it!
 
It is just an extra tap beside the sink, that goes to the cold tap through a basic filter. I would have though that even €300 is expensive for fitting one. For 3k you could get a whole house Reverse Osmosis system which is capable of filtering heavily polluted (eg sewerage/farm waste) water.
