Navman GPS System?

I bought a Mitec Mio 168 GPS PDA badged up as a Navman, came with the Navman software, didn't seem to have great coverage for ireland. I have since tried a number of different packages and have found TomTom so far to be the best.

i use a navman f20 and found it good but as the last post said it really depends on the the maps that the system use

used it in uk last week and it was brilliant, got mine from www.inkdrop.ie

Certainly getting the latest maps is paramount, tomtom was the only one that had the M50 finished all the way, even though it's been finished in reality for about 3 years. Although I found one or two blackspots where it flakes out for a few seconds. Navigon is supposed to be good, but I havn't tried it as of yet.

No experience of Navman although I recently purchased a Garmin nuvi 310 deluxe and I find it excellent it comes with UK and Ireland Maps pre-installed, plus European mapping on CD, it also has Bluetooth (ensure phone compatibility), MP3 player, audio book player, JPEG picture viewer etc...

TomTom have the lastest UK and Ireland maps available to download now from their website. Street coverage >99% for Ireland. Unfortunately they cost €59.95 (I only bought mine last Xmas and the maps are out of date already!).

Reckon I`ll make do with the old one! :(

Has anybody had any experience with the Navman GPS System?
I have been using Navman GPS for about 5 years now and have used other systems in other cars. I prefer Navman to others and find instructions more logical etc. Irish maps are not excellent. Even the five year old maps, however, are good for major cities such as Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway etc. but otherwise coverage is quite poor other than the main N roads. I have also used AA Navigator. Maps are more comprehensive but voice instructions not as good or "logical" as Navman's.

Prior to using GPS systems I used to download routes and route maps from www.viamichelin.com and as Viamichelin now have their own SatNav systems on sale I would love to try one sometime. Their downloaded route maps and directions were excellent so that I feel their own SatNav system should be excellent .... if anyone would like to buy me a gift of one please feel free!!!!

Overall, however, I am so happy with my Navman system that I shall probably purchase more up to date maps and continue to use Navman. It is a very logical and easy to follow system of instructions ... I like it more than any of the others I have tried.
