Avensis 1.6 vs 1.8 vs 2.0

Had anyone driven 2 or 3 of the above - is there a big diff in performance. The oul fella has the 1.6 and I find it a bit sluggish....

Minimum you would need for this size car is 1.8. Depends on BHP of each unit. 2.0 would be smoother...and can often result in better mpg because the engine isn't working as hard.
 
A bit sluggish?? The 1.6 is a total disaster.I don't know why they sell them with such a puny engine.The 2.0 is pure silk:) :)
 
Both are pretty good. A personal choice.

New Mondeo has a 125bhp 1.6 engine, which should be good for Irish VRT, tax and insurance conditions, and should be well up to the task also btw.
