Ghent, Brussels

Have been but can't remember much about it (like many parts of Belgium!)apart from a medieval castle. Am sure it will be good fun after a few good cheap beers and its a university city so there's bound to be a good nightlife scene.
 
Are you going to Ghent or Brussels?

Don't know much about the former, but Brussels is great craic.

Mapa Mundo in Place St Gery is a fun bar with latin music, Le Corbeau can be a riot- people frequently end up dancing on the tables. This bar can be found on Rue St Michel.
 
Was there for a soccer match a couple of years back. Had a great time, the people are friendly and place itself is beautiful. Very clean, family friendly restaurants and bars. While there visit Foley's Irish bar, stays open late and serves good food. The centre of town is simply fantastic. Only 40 mins by train from Brussels. Easy to get around on the trams or just walk. A must see place and I will return soon.
 
I've been to both Gent and Brussels and really enjoyed both. Lots of sightseeing and lovely belgian beer.
