Wondering if anyone has this type of phone.

I have this phone and am with vodafone.

Called 171 and set up a voice message and activated it.

Called my mobile and it just rings and rings.

Checked userguide and tried a few things but still the same.

Anyone got this fone and might they be able to point out what I have stupidly failed to see

Hello there. Have you set up your 'Call Divert' on the phone itself?

I don't have your model but it usually goes like this -

Go to Menu
then 'Settings'
then 'Call'
then 'Call Divert'

and then choose what options you want, eg 'Divert if Busy', then 'Activate', then 'To Voice mailbox'.

Give that a try.

Tks for that.

I tried it but when I select 'to voice mailbox' it returns 'request rejected'

I will check my documentation and see if I can call someone in Nokia or else try the phone provider, vodafone

I am with O2, but to activate voicemail I had to input a number something like #123#08651234567* and then press 'Call'. This didn't utilise the phone's own call divert facility, but it just activated voicemail with O2. Probably something similar with Vodafone and a quick call to customer care should sort it.

The diverts should be set up to divert to 0875xxxxxxx

When you select to Voice mailbox it tries to set up the divert to the short code 171.

Dialing 171 for your mailbox is not common throughout the world , in a lot of cases you actually have to dial the mailbox number and not just a shortcode.

So if you activate diverts for busy , not answered and out of reach and then put in the number 0875xxxxxxx it should work.

I know this is an old posting - but I've just had the same problem today with a new Nokia and checked with Vodafone.

Here's how to solve:
