I have been told that the tube of the TV in a rented house which I have is "dying". The TV was quite expensive a few years ago and I wonder if there is any merit in having it repaired or would I be as well to bin it and purchase a new one??

If the tube is actually failing (who told you?) then it is most likely not cost effective to get it repaired. But don't put it in the bin - bring it back for recycling if you buy a new one since you are paying the WEEE charge for that very purpose.

no , run to your nearest wee centre with it....

There are a few TV repair places around. Most will charge a small fee to take a look and will deduct this from the repair cost should you proceed.
